My first supernatural encounter was back in 2016 when I was working as a lecturer in a private college in Keningau. During my stay, I lived with my sister in the teachers’ flats since both of us weren’t locals in the area. At the time, my sister went back to my hometown and I was left alone in the flat. Since the building was undergoing construction, I decided to check in to a nearby old motel for the time being.
After having dinner and drinks with a good friend, I came back to the motel at around 11 PM. Everything seemed so quiet as there were not a lot of people who check in. I was already half-asleep when I suddenly heard loud voices that sounded like people mumbling, crying and whispering. At first, I thought they were late-night guests checking in so I ignored what I heard. But the voices got louder and louder as if they were in the same room as me!
The room got warmer, and I was already beginning to sweat. Just as I was about to get up from the bed, the old TV inside the room suddenly turned on and the volume gradually turned loud. It felt so eerie because the remote was nowhere to be found and it wasn’t even plugged! I rushed to get out of the bed to turn the TV off, and when I did the voices stopped and I felt the warmth and heavy breathing around me. It felt like a lot of people were staring, and the stares were as heavy as my heart.
I packed my things as fast as I could and immediately checked out of the motel at 2:30 in the morning. I got back in the flat and tried to calm myself after what happened. I wasn’t even able to shower the next day for work because I was still shaken and astounded. I swear, I will never return to that motel ever again. Let alone, never check into motels in the future right after that incident. My encounter wasn’t fatal, but if you ever experience that in a foreign territory then you will feel helpless, scared and petrified.
