With more than 30 dim sum options already on their menu, Tasty Wok is upping their game even more with five new ones.

Tasty Wok, Venition has been a consistent provider of good quality, genuine Cantonese style dim sum since its inception in March 2010. And despite it’s already large overflow of selections, Tasty Wok still makes sure to introduce new specials to their menu every quarter.
I was fortunate enough to attend the food tasting of their latest seasonal offerings. The menu that day was the creation of their very own chef, Feng Zhaojun from China, who specialises in Cantonese style dim sum.
I left Tasty Wok with a confusing feeling of satisfaction and contentment, mixed with an inexplicable craving for more.
Mastering the perfect curry puff pastry shell is a fine art. They tend to run the risk of being either too flaky, too dense, or too overpowering—so much so that you hardly get a taste of the filling at all. Tasty Wok manages to toe the delicate line between the two, with a shell that melds brilliantly with its chicken curry stuffing.
Much like the curry puff, grilled buns are not all that easy to get right. With grilled buns, in particular, you want to have a nice balance of soft on the inside and slight crisp on the outside. And Tasty Wok, again, nails that balance like a champion gymnast. Its ratio of chicken-to-mushroom is also worthy of note, with neither one overpowering the other.
This was the dish I was most excited to try upon first seeing the menu. I have not come across a papaya puff in my lifetime and I was pleasantly surprised that the anticipation did not hinder the experience. The filling was less of a papaya paste and more of custard base with bits of papaya peeping through. But nevertheless, it makes for an interesting dessert option.
Their chuk sang mai, the enigma of the group, took me awhile to figure out. Though delicious, its ingredients were a mystery to me. A combination of chicken, prawn and bamboo pith, it managed to fill without being too heavy.
Also known as a tofu skin roll, Tasty Wok’s beancurd sheet roll is a savoury delight! Like the chuk sang mai, its filling is also a combination of chicken and prawn. Sprinkled with peas and gravy, its appeal is in its simplicity. I found myself fighting the table for the last piece.
